MX-5 Proving Grounds
Season 1 • Independent iRacing MX-5 Championship
Structured qualifying, split racing, race control, standings, and a broadcast-focused race-night format for the iRacing MX-5 community.
Driver registration is open. Approved drivers are added to the official Season 1 roster.
Mission Statement
MX-5 Proving Grounds exists to give iRacing MX-5 drivers a structured Season 1 championship built around official qualifying, qualifying-based splits, one unified points table, clean race control, professional presentation, and a community that treats the series like something worth building.
Series Overview
MX-5 Proving Grounds is an independent community-run iRacing MX-5 championship built around organized race operations, clear sporting regulations, qualifying-based splits, and one overall drivers championship.
Splits are used only to manage race-night fields. Points remain unified, so every driver is part of the same Season 1 championship.
MX-5 Proving Grounds is not officially affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to iRacing, IMSA, Mazda, Whelen, Michelin, Andersen Promotions, or the real-world Mazda MX-5 Cup.
Race Format
Driver Registration
Drivers complete one initial registration form. Once approved, they are added to the official Driver Roster and remain eligible for Season 1 events.
There is no weekly race form. To participate in an event, drivers show up for official qualifying and are placed into the correct race split based on qualifying time.
Season 1 Schedule
Season 1 is planned around Thursday night race events, with official practice and qualifying opening each race night. Broadcast links and race-week details will be posted through Discord before each event.
The week of June 25 is blocked out with no race scheduled. Mid-Ohio is currently set for July 2, followed by CTMP on July 9. Calendar is subject to final Race Control confirmation. All event times are listed in Eastern Time.
Broadcast Partner
MX-5 Proving Grounds race coverage is planned through Racer Nexus, with a two-split race night structure: lower qualifying split first, higher qualifying split last, plus clean timing for intro, grid, racing, and post-race coverage.
Broadcast links, race-week posts, and result graphics will be published through the Discord and official league channels.
